What is Circle?
Our Siskiyou Circle Program offers a safe, inviting place for youth to connect and feel supported in their journey through adolescence. Circles create an intentional space to explore all the thrills, challenges and confusion in an accepting and non-judgmental environment. Circle is a place to ask bigger questions and to go a little deeper — bridging the relationships between feelings, mindset, and choices. We utilize intentional conversation, tools for growth, fun and engaging activities, creativity and artistic expression, and dynamic outings — giving rise to new friendship, empathy, laughter, creativity, and hope in the knowing that they’re not alone! Circles create an intentional space for youth and Our Circles are intentionally reflective of each specific group’s needs, and facilitated by 2-3 mentors.. While not therapy, our circles offer a deeply supportive environment, built on trust, confidentiality and kindness, utilizing a strengths-based and growth mindset approach.
A typical circle includes
* A Landing moment & Snack
* Interactive games
* Check-in
* An intentionally planned Topic (age appropriate)
* Art Project or Interactive Activity
* Closing and Reflection
* We also embark on fun, outings, workshops and adventures each session!
We intentionally plan each circle based on the groups needs- to explore and reflect on meaningful and relevant social, emotional, academic and familial journeys. Our time together is connective, fun, non-stressful, empowering, and often enlightening. Circles are built on confidentiality and kindness, utilizing a strengths-based and growth mindset approach
Please note: the Siskiyou Circle is meant to serve as an support system for your child. We are NOT counseling or therapy. We bear witness, help youth connect and build trust and support. We offer concepts, contexts, tools and reflection for navigating important experiences common to the adolescent journey.

Dig deeper. Find support and a listening crew to bear witness to your journey. Build more meaningful connections with other teens. Split the surface to wrestle with the multi-faceted perspectives, as we explore what it means to be a teen in todays culture. Your experience, your thoughts, your feelings matter here. We are here to get messy- with feelings, thoughts and art projects. To laugh with (and not at), to suspend the judgment and show up for one another's successes, struggles, questions, concerns, wild ideas and random thoughts!
High School is it's own sub-culture and pocket of time, marked by the stressors and excitement of that transition from childhood to adulthood. Teens are faced with high levels of expectations, responsibilities, body and identity changes, partying and romance, new exposures to the suddenness of tragedy- and mind exploding new ideas and passions. Everything feels more real, bigger, and more intense. Throw in a pandemic, the unique stress brought about with an ever changing climatic region (& world) and the very real push for teens to figure out "What they want to be when they grow up"... and it can be overwhelming. We provide a place to breathe, to be, to feel supported and accepted amidst and sometimes in spite of all these factors... a place for teens to know they're not alone, to identify resources and strategies for success and adulting, and to offer a place where they don't need to feel perfect or "on", while doing the deeper work of connecting, trusting, building growth and self-confidence.
Topics range based on the developmental readiness and exposure of each group: Topics in the high school years often include most of the following:
* Values- what's important
* Friendship- Making new friends, changing friends groups, navigating friends and romance, letting go
* Exploring Trust & Vulnerability
* Finding Voice & Authenticity- conflict & communication, Self defense
* Body image / Body Positivity- media messaging, self acceptance, eating disorders
* Challenges and Obstacles- Managing Stress, Loss, Divorce, Academics, Perfectionism
* Hopes and Dreams- Vision boards, Goal setting, Resiliency
* Peers, partying, safety, consent and knowing your limits
* Romantic Relationships, dating boundaries, dating violence, healthy / unhealthy relationships
* Adulting- independence, budget concepts, college talks and self exploration
* Mental Health- anxiety, depression and the in between
