Siskiyou Girls Circles
Now enrolling for our Fall Circles (grades 6th-12th)
Our Siskiyou Girls Circles offers a safe and supportive place for girls to connect in their journey through adolescence. Circle provides a place to ask bigger questions and to go a little deeper — bridging the relationships between feelings, mindset, and choices. We utilize intentional conversation, activities, art, and really fun outings — giving rise to new friendship, empathy, laughter, creativity, and hope in the knowing that they’re not alone! Circles create an intentional space for youth and teens to explore all the thrills, challenges and confusion in a “me too” environment. We intentionally plan each circle based on the groups needs- to explore and reflect on meaningful and relevant social, emotional, academic and familial journeys. Held by 2-3 mentors in each circle, our time together is connective, fun, non-stressful, empowering, and often enlightening. Circles are built on confidentiality and kindness, utilizing a strengths-based and growth mindset approach.
A typical circle includes
supporting* A moment to land and snack and breathe.
* Interactive games to emotionally “open” the space
* A check in time where we hold space to bear witness to one another’s worlds
* A specific topic introduced (age / developmental specific)
* An art or follow up activity to deepen the message
* Closing time to share, reflect or adopt new tools
* We also engage on 1 or more outings a session, workshops and self-defense
Please note: the Siskiyou Circle is meant as a support system for your child. We are NOT counseling or therapy. We are here to bear witness, help your youth find connection in a deeper and more meaningful way, building trust and supporting their their journey. We offer concepts, contexts, tools and reflection for navigating important experiences common to the adolescent journey. For more information please reach out!by email to info@FlipSideAshland.com. Circles are intended to be year round, although we often admit a new member or two during seasonal transitions. We are not an open-drop in format. Registration is required.

High School is it's own sub-culture and pocket of time, marked by the stressors and excitement of that transition from childhood to adulthood. Teens are faced with high levels of expectations, responsibilities, body and identity changes, partying and romance, new exposures to the suddenness of tragedy- and mind exploding new ideas and passions. Everything feels more real, bigger, and more intense. Throw in a pandemic, the unique stress brought about with n ever changing climatic region (& world) and the very real push for teens to figure out "What they want to be when they grow up"... and it can be daunting. We provide a place to breathe, to be, to feel supported and accepted amidst and sometimes in spite of all these factors... a place for teens to know they're not alone, to identify resources and strategies for success and adulting, and to offer a place where they don't need to feel perfect or "on", while doing the deeper work of connecting, trusting, building growth and self-confidence.
Topics range based on the developmental readiness and exposure of each group: Topics in the high school years often include many of the following:
* Values- what's important
* Friendship- Making new friends, changing friends groups, navigating friends and romance, letting go
* Exploring Trust & Vulnerability
* Finding your voice- conflict & communication, Self defense, Speaking your Truth
* Body Image / Body Positivity- media messaging, self acceptance, eating disorders
* Exploring Authenticity- the Representative vs True Self
* Challenges and Obstacles- Managing Stress, Loss, Divorce, Academics, Perfectionism, Expectations
* Hopes and Dreams- Vision boards, Goal setting, Resiliency
* Peers, partying, safety and knowing your limits
* Romantic Relationships, dating boundaries, dating violence, healthy / unhealthy relationships
