    Tracy has been working to empower youth to live with confidence, kindness and integrity for over 20 years. As an experienced teacher, facilitator and coach, she strives to be a reliable adult in kids lives, receiving youth with acceptance, dedication, and open hearted connection. Drawing on her depth and breadth of experience, she recognizes each child has a unique path to learning, using many modalities and "ways in". She seeks to challenge kids to push just beyond their comfort zones, while supporting each child's ability to build a healthy relationships with themselves and those around them. She takes a creative, professional, relaxed and upbeat approach, cultivating relationships based on mutual respect, accountability, honesty & compassion & resiliency.

    Certifications: 25 years of coaching experience; 10 years mentoring/facilitating adolescent girls groups & outdoor adventure; BA in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude); Montessori Teachers Certification. Waldorf Foundation Year Cert. One Circle Facilitator. 1st Aid/CPR Certified. WFR. Challenge / High Ropes Course Cert, Darkness to Light Child Abuse Awareness. USAG Safety Certification.

    Tracy lives contentedly with her husband and two daughters (17 & 14) in Talent, Oregon. When not actively tending to FlipSide or the family flow, her life is enriched with traveling, hiking, writing, kayaking, throwing pottery, choreographing, handstands and (always working toward) bettering herself.

    High Adventure Camp Guide

    Tamara Smith, co-owner of FlipSide has been teaching children to love fitness and health for over 20 years. She has a degree in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership. She is an experienced and skilled facilitator and teacher and is passionate about working with children. She maintains a holistic approach to education, with an emphasis on personal development and creative expression.

    Certified: NOLS Wilderness First Responder, SCW Kids in Motion Coach, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, ARC Lifeguard, Baby Signs Certified Independent Instructor, ARC CPR PRO and First Aid

    Tamara lives with her husband and 3 children in Ashland, OR. When not working at FlipSide, and caring for three great children, Tamara enjoys swimming, exercise, and family adventures to the many natural wonders of the World.

  • Christina Robison

    Operations Manager

    Christina rounds out the FlipSide team bringing decades of Project Management, Operations and Communication skills to her role as Office Manager. She is always happy to help FlipSide Families with any questions or issues they might have! Prior to being “promoted” to Mom of two, Christina worked in the Public Broadcasting System throughout the United States and can still be spotted on Southern Oregon Public Television volunteering her development skills from time to time. She lives in Ashland with her husband, Tony and two children. In her spare time, Christina enjoys singing, crafting and traveling as much as possible.

  • Peter Hulce

    Extreme Tumbling & Parkour

    Peter Hulce has been coaching Parkour for 8 years. He is patient, articulate, and precise in his instruction and has the ability to connect with students of all ages. He has been training with Higs Gym for over 8 years under the instruction of coach Byron Higinbotham. During this time he has attained a black belt in Taekwondo, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), and become highly proficient in the art of movement known as Parkour. He also has 2 years of gymnastics experience prior to training at Higs Gym. Peter has amassed a huge medal count for the many tournaments he has competed in over the years and was the 2014 Higs Ninja Challenge men's elite champion.

  • Emily Peterson

    Gymnastics Coach

    Emily grew up doing gymnastics and competed through level 5. She is excited to be working with kids and has helped teach summer science camps throughout high school. She is currently working towards a biology degree with an art minor at Southern Oregon University. Outside of school and work, she enjoys hiking, climbing, swimming, and being outdoors.

  • Annika Larson

    Gymnastics Coach

    Coach Annika brings her upbeat spirit and enthusiasm  for helping kids attain their gym goals! Coach Annika, previously a level 7 gymnast herself, is also passionate about Speech and Debate.  You’ll see Annika co-coaching several of our after school classes- from beginner thru advanced levels!

  • Vincent Smith, PhD

    High Adventure Camp Guide

    Vincent Smith, PhD Environmental Studies professor guides Eco-Adventure Camps for FlipSide! Combining his passion for the outdoors & sustainability Vince comes to us with a lifetime of experience.  As an avid scouter Vince traveled to 48 or the 50 states camping, hiking, climbing, rafting, canoeing, skiing, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, sailing, SCUBA diving, spelunking, and adventuring outdoors in whatever capacity he could. Vince enjoys guiding kids & teens in adventure camps across the country.

    In addition to outdoor experience, Vince has degrees & advanced training in Plant Ecology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science & Education. Teaching is his greatest passion. From teaching college students at the Center for Sustainability Farm to teaching Kids in the waters of Catalina island, to Guiding teens though Minnesota's Boundary Waters, Vince empowers people to act as stewards while showing them a world worth protecting.
